The city is home to four beautiful golf courses, including the new Three Crowns designed by world renowned designer Robert Trent Jones, Jr. In addition to golfing, Casper offers a state-of-the-art whitewater kayaking section on the North Platte River running right through the heart of Casper. Casper is home to Hogadon Ski Area. This ski destination offers fourteen trails and over 600 feet of vertical drop. The city also boasts 42 parks, a large recreation center, ice arena, and indoor aquatics center.
Local History
The city of Casper lies on the North Platte River at a historic crossroads of pioneer trails used to settle the West. The community was firmly established in 1888 when the railroad arrived, serving surrounding ranches and a budding oil industry.
